Introduction
Early 2008, Chorokbaem Media's "ambition" project and MBC's 47th Anniversary Special Project Drama titled East of Eden, which was then projected to cost 25 Billion Won, had finally commenced. The writer was said to have spent 2 years writing the storyline. To realize that dream, they rounded up a powerful cast composed not only of a popular and big-name star but also more talented and well-respected veterans (Yoo Dong Gun, Lee Mi Sook and Jo Min Ki ) as well as promising talents of this generation. Even the child stars were beyond amazing, particularly Kim Bum. Despite strong advise against taking the role, Park Hae Jin remained firm in his decision and persisted to finally be able to join fellow Baeksang Arts Acting Awardees Han Ji Hye and Lee Da Hae in the the drama's roster. Unlike his previous charming roles and despite the risks, Park Hae Jin saw the potential, uniqueness and challenge in the role of the tormented and conflicted Shin Myung Hoon. Although the drama as a whole was not as "epic" as they had promoted, with controversies shaking the production to its core, the departure of the lead actress and the original writer, numerous script changes which is entirely different from what they always promise, Park Hae Jin was able to showcase his acting prowess. He was praised for his talent in delivering the role of Shin Myung Hoon, earning him the title of true blue actor. Only being his third project so far, he proved how much he has matured as an actor.
Synopsis
East of Eden is a story about the intertwined fates of two men and their families. Two boys were born at the same hospital on the same night. That very night, the boys were switched and were eternally connected. Shin Tae Hwan, father of one of the boys, planted the seeds of hate to those who stood in his way, which in turn resulted to never ending plots for revenge. A couple of those seeds were engraved in the Lee brothers' hearts when their father was killed due to Shin Tae Hwan's conspiracy. But what happens when both families find out that the boy they brought up for over three decades is actually the flesh and blood of their enemy?
The story of two men who have struggled all their lives to be the person their family expects. Two men who fought to prove themselves and make their mark in the world. And in the end finally suffer the cruel fate as they find out who they really are. This drama features an unconventional and passionate love story. It shows contrast between two families, and the sacrifices they make. Their examples of loyalty, love and faith for one another.
Description of Park Hae Jin's role
Earning honor and recognition did not come without a price. Park Hae Jin went on a strict diet in the start which made him lose over 10 pounds.. He suffered confusion with the script changes. Too much stress caused him to have insomnia, bouts of depression and some hair loss during the tight filming schedules. Park Hae Jin immersed himself into the role of Shin Myung Hoon.
Originally the son of a Union leader, he was switched at birth with the son of the mortal enemy of his father. He was raised by the very hands of the man who killed his biological father. A child with a kind and warm heart, who lost his way as he seeks approval and acknowledgment from the man he calls "father." Spoiled by material abundance, but starved from fatherly love. Not knowing the true meaning of love, disillusioned by his greed and pride, he walks the path towards self-destruction. Whether it's with the love of his life or work or even family matters, Shin Myung Hoon finds himself at constant rivalry with the boy he used to admire, Lee Dong Wook. He continues to live on, burdened and punished for his father's sins as well as his own.

Introduction
Though the main cast was marked as the trios: Han Hyo Joo as Seok Ji Su, Park Hae Jin as Jeong Mu Yeong, & Hong Su Ah as Yoon Eun Ha; the other cast members were not any less important and their screen moments were also of great significance contributing to the success of this drama. However, each main cast belonged to a family of their own and the other side stories just developed from their characters in view. (Refer to 'Description of Park Hae Jin's role' for an example of this.) Also, the three families were linked in a way either in terms of relationships or friendships…. It's all a great networking! For more of this network, please refer to As Much As Heaven and Earth's Soompi thread.
Ratings of this KBS2 drama averaged into the thirties during its telecast in Korea. The bonding among cast members was so strong in this drama that they had a massive finale party with Han Hyo Joo and Park Hae Jin as the main emcees.
Synopsis
Jeong Mu Yeong was adopted by his family after being abandoned by his mother when he was a child. He struggled through many inner conflicts, mixed treatments and moments of forgiveness within his family. He only had a childhood friend, Seok Ji Su, whom he could relate to as himself. Ji Su grew up in a motherless family and she could understand Mu Yeong better than anyone else. Mu Yeong soon met another cheerful but troubled girl, Yoon Eun Ha, whom he later helped bring out into the world of reality with true friendship.
This drama focused on different family problems faced in modern day society. The theme on children who were being adopted was strongly portrayed and extended to tell viewers what went on even when they were adults. It was sprinkled with many heartwrenching moments between couples, within family bonds and unique friendships. Like any weekend family drama, the various moods were emoted for viewers and its strength not only lies with its strong and powered cast but also in the twists and turns in its not-so-predictable intermediate story movements.
Description of Park Hae Jin's role
Mu Yeong was adopted by his family (which meant that there was space for development into who he really was) and his life in that family was affected by his grandmothers (yes, it's two maternal grandmothers; one of whom was not-so-likeable and the other was like a secret fairy godmother) , his uncle who looked down on him and his aunt who was supportive of the whole family. Of course, he was much loved by his adopted parents but it was not the same to him. He had an elder brother and it was a great storyline to witness how this sibling relationship developed and supported each other. Trace how Mu Yeong developed from a man who had been marred by his childhood unpleasantness despite his adopted parents' attempt to protect him to one who moved on with life against all odds. His crying scenes were as touching and his inner feelings displayed made one wanting to go comfort him by providing him a haven, just like what Ji Su did. Park Hae Jin was awarded best actor in a daily drama serial in KBS Drama Awards Ceremony 2007 for his role as Jeong Mu Yeong and together with Han Hyo Joo, they won the Best Couple Awards too.

Introduction
This romantic family drama had captured their viewers' hearts by its portrayal of the warmth of an atypical and down-to-earth Korean family. It focused on the lives of the four sisters within the family and their love-relationships. Humour was injected here and there that gave the story much light-hearted moments intermingled with its complex situations that characters faced along the way. The script was indeed one of the best known storyline written among many Korean dramas. Apart from being well-received in Korea, it had also brought in waves of popularity to kdrama in other countries that had seen its run, with the recent massive wave being created in China and Japan. It had also grabbed several awards in the 2006 KBS Drama Awards ceremony. This is definitely not a drama to be missed.
Synopsis
This drama portrayed the different personalities of four sisters of a family who were raised in a regimental manner with the head of the family being an honourable army officer, a father who yearned to have sons but ended up having four princesses. The second letter of all sisters' first name was Chil. Lee Tae Ran plays the second sister Na Sul Chil who behaved like a son. Sul Chil and her younger sister Na Mi Chil, had rival relationship because she was jealous of Mi Chil's beautiful appearance. However, she worked hard to overcome her mediocre appearance and was successful in her career. The first sister Na Duk Chil, got married without the foundation of love and then divorced. She later faced the choice to marry again. The youngest sister Na Jong Chil was pregnant before she got married and then she lived her life in tears. Go Joo Won played the role Yoo Il Han who was a friend between Sul Chil and Mi Chil. Singer Lee Seung Gi played the role Hwang Tae Ja who was a typical mama's boy. Park Hae Jin played the role of Yeon Ha-nam who was steadfast in his courtship towards Sul Chil.
Description of Park Hae Jin's role
Yeon Ha-nam was seen as a rather insignificant role at the start of the drama. You might not even notice his importance in the drama at all, except that he was just a lackey to Sul Chil in her workplace. Gradually, his role played up very nicely to a climax after Ha-nam's discharge from his military service and he declared his determination to court Sul Chil until she's his. Of course a matured Sul Chil would never accept a younger lackey as a match for marriage which suited any viewers' standpoint. The excitement in following this heightened when viewers just hoped that Sul Chil would just give Ha-nam a chance … this agonizing yearning just squeezed one's heart until that moment finally arrived after much great development. However, that just marked the beginning of another climax for this troubled love-relationship that it just made following this long drama never tiring but viewers harping for more. Another thing worth mentioning was following the way how Park Hae Jin transformed gradually in his image from a soldier to an established designer, from a bespectacled nerd to an impressive man who held the fort for the woman he loved ….. how could anyone just not fall for Park Hae Jin as Yeon Ha-Nam!! Even his role as Yeon Ha-nam has earned him not only the Best New Actor awards during the 2006 KBS Drama Awards, but also helped him to bag the Best New Actor in the prestigious 2007 43th Baeksang Drama Awards. Sul Chil and Ha Nam were also named the Best Couple award in the KBS Drama Awards.
